An advocate who knows the game, and the business behind it.
Kim Dexter is a former NCAA Division I volleyball player at Howard University who founded Dexter Sports Co. to give athletes and coaches the advocate every competitor deserves. She pairs an athlete's perspective with more than a decade of partnership and business-development experience.
The story behind Dexter Sports Management
Sports gave me opportunities that shaped my life, and I've wanted to find my way back to that world in a role where I could help shape opportunities for others.
Playing Division I volleyball at Howard gave me an understanding of the commitment athletes make to their sport. But my interest extends to what happens beyond competition: the career decisions, contracts, and relationships that can determine someone's future. I wanted to be the person helping athletes and coaches navigate those moments and advocating for what matters to them.
In fundraising, I built a career around earning trust, understanding people's priorities, and securing support for something they believed in. Those are skills I wanted to bring into sports representation. My Juris Master studies at Florida State, focused on risk, compliance, and contracts, helped me connect that professional experience with the work I wanted to pursue.
Dexter Sports Management brings those parts of my life together. I'm building an agency that helps athletes and coaches understand their options, pursue opportunities, and make decisions with their long-term interests in mind. That includes representing coaches and athletes across all sports, with a specialty in uplifting women in sport, and supporting athletes navigating NIL.
I want clients to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that someone is paying attention to the details that affect their livelihood.
I want to know their goals well enough to advocate for them beyond the immediate deal.
As the business grows, I also hope to establish a scholarship program that helps girls afford volleyball and other sports where participation costs can shut families out. My fundraising background gives me a way to contribute to that effort, and my experience as an athlete makes it personal.
Dexter is the opportunity to build a business around work I care about, using the experience I've earned to help people move forward in sports.
